Ganga Flows in Heaven, Earth, and Hell

Ganga Flows in Heaven, Earth, and Hell

Goddess Ganga assumed the type of a river and flowed in all of the three worlds: celestial, terrestrial, and subterranean. Within the celestial area, she has three streams often known as Swargaganga, Mandakini and Alakananda. Within the terrestrial area, she begins her course from Gangotri within the Himalayas to lastly merge with the Bay of Bengal, and is called the river Ganges or Ganga. Historic texts inform that on earth, seven streams of Ganga are flowing, specifically, Hladini, Pavani, Nalini, Sita, Sindhu, Suchakshu and Bhagirathi. Within the subterranean area, Ganga is called Vaitarini, and a departed soul has to cross this river to succeed in hell. Vaitarini, is also called Patala Ganga.

Some sources declare that Goddess Ganga flows within the heaven as Mandakini, on the earth as Ganga, and within the nether world as Bhogavati or Bhagirathi. Since she is current in Swarga, Prithvi, and Patala, she is also called Tripathaga or Tripathagamini – one who travels three paths or three worlds.

The purifying waters of Ganga is similar in all of the three worlds and thus anybody who has a shower within the holy Ganga in any of the three worlds features liberation from the cycle of beginning. The soul attains the 4 goals of life, specifically brahmacharya, artha, kama, and moksha. The soul is free from all shackles of life and dying, stays united with the supreme soul and bliss is obtained perpetually. The powers of Ganga are limitless and must be skilled to completely perceive the reality behind the sayings of the nice monks, the nice rishis and munis of India.
